The Reasoning Behind 432Hz Music

Rock at 432Hz

The Reasoning Behind 432Hz Music:

Sand allows us to capture an otherwise invisible and fleeting phenomenon: the shape of sound waves. The science of this is called cymatics, which is the very reason why Seraphic Eyes chose to tune their music to 432Hz.

Many years ago, we discovered videos showing how the Hertz ratios (the oscillation of sound waveforms) between notes in a scale tuned to A = 432Hz created incredible and beautiful geometric patterns, closely resembling sacred geometry. In contrast, at 440Hz, these patterns seemed distorted or even lost.

Amazed by this discovery, we decided to experiment with various tuners. The relationship between form and sound was striking, so we made the decision to convert all our music. Today, every recording and every live performance we do is played at 432Hz.

The Shift to 432Hz Tuning:

Nowadays, finding 432Hz tuners is easier, as many have adapted to the growing market demand. But when we made our decision, this option wasn't readily available. It took us months to find a Chinese pedal sold in France that allowed this tuning. Initially, Laura and I had to use our phones, which was cumbersome when trying to integrate them into our pedalboards. :)

Differences in Rock at 432Hz:

Right away, we noticed that children, despite our intense rock sound, started coming closer to the stage, seemingly drawn by something invisible. We also observed that our instruments stayed in tune longer. Guitars that had been hanging on the wall for months remained perfectly tuned despite temperature changes that would typically affect the wood and string tension. Even the strings themselves oxidized much more slowly, to the point where we needed to change them less frequently.

Conclusion: 432Hz vs. 440Hz

We know the history: according to Ananda Bosman, an international researcher and musician, ancient Egyptian and Greek instruments were primarily tuned to A = 432Hz. In the Eleusinian Mysteries, Orpheus, the god of music, death, and rebirth, was the guardian of Ambrosia and the music of transformation, with instruments tuned to 432Hz.

Giuseppe Verdi and many others believed that 432Hz was the perfect tuning, and in 1884, it became law in Italy.

We’ve heard that the Nazis altered it to 440Hz to make troops more agitated and battle-ready, and that an Anglo-American agreement excluded the French from voting on the matter, establishing the (Nazi) 440Hz as the “official” musical tuning standard worldwide.

It is said that 432Hz aligns perfectly with the Hertz ratios connected to the Earth’s resonance at 8Hz, known as the Schumann resonance. It is also believed that these ratios are in sync with our chakras, making 432Hz music beneficial and healing, and so on.

After everything we’ve read, seen, and observed about the shape of sound waves, after studying Masaru Emoto’s work on the memory of water—knowing that our bodies are more than 50% water and that water is influenced by sound—we decided we had to play at 432Hz. It’s beautiful to imagine all those sacred geometry-like shapes enveloping us and our listeners. It feels almost magical.
